Our tradesmen at Glass & Concrete Contracting are experienced in stucco and EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System) repairs. One of the primary causes of damage for stucco and EIFS repair is moisture.
A detailed building envelope assessment can evaluate the quality and cause of damage, as well as outline appropriate repair specifications.
Stucco, which is water resistant, is usually made with different types and combinations of aggregate, fibers, sand, binder, and water. Although stucco is incredibly resilient, damage can occur to old and new applications that have not been properly applied. Stucco repairs that have not been applied correctly can cause additional problems as well as cracks, deterioration, and impact damage in sheathing.
EIFS is a common insulation and protective wall system. Similar to stucco, it is the only exterior wall covering that insulates and provides weather protection in a variety of colors and textures. EIFS can replicate almost any architectural style or finish material, or stand by itself as an architectural finish.
Poor construction detailing and practices in EIFS installation are a major reason for repairs. Improper installations can allow moisture to collect behind the cladding.
